Horse Show 2015 -- around the grounds and above (post 3 of 5)

Every year at the horse show.. this handsome life-sized fiberglass steed greets the attendees.. usually at the driveway to the Ernie Howlett Park show site. This year, the horse was right in the middle of the street!
The Portuguese Bend National Horse show is a United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) Heritage Competition. This designation is "reserved for competitions that have been established for a long period of time and have made a substantial contribution toward the development and promotion of the sport, both within the sport and within the broader community..."
High attendance at this year's show on Sunday for the Seahorse Classic $15,000 jump off.
The silver-saddled golden palominos of the Long Beach Mounted Police are crowd favorites.
The team makes time to mingle before their parade in the ring.

Thrilling first time equestrians with a chance to be in the saddle of a parade horse.

Lots going on ... in the show rings.
You can get side-lines close to the action...

The Seahorse Classic jump-off is the last event of the show...
A real crowd-pleaser .. with the thrill of show jumping.. in a beautiful setting..

But also lots of ways...
to take a break from the action.
On the hillside just above the show grounds...
a trail ride group enjoyed the view.
The Children's area includes the popular pony rides..
petting zoo...

and games galore... like this favorite...

All sorts of food options: burgers... salads... cupcakes... ice cream...
no need to leave your seats, with this handy golf cart of goodies making the rounds.
Even the horses enjoyed treats galore...

Fun and frolic... family friendly... and all raising funds for a great cause...

Every September... don't miss it!
