Re-watch via You Tube:
From the You Tube link below to re-watch the awards:
The Concept Art Association's 2020 Concept Art Awards ceremony, Presented by LightBox Expo - hosted this year by Max Greenfield (New Girl) and Carla Renata (Superstore). The event is the first of its kind to recognize and bring increased awareness of the role of concept artists throughout the world of movies, television, video games, VR and more. The annual Concept Art Awards Show showcases and recognizes these behind-the-scenes individuals working in entertainment concept art. Learn more at conceptartawards.com and follow them on instagram @conceptartassociation
It's great to see this award show presentation and put faces and names to all the stunning art behind the scenes.
At appx 57 mins into the clip, you can see an update with Anne Coco, head of the Graphic Arts collections at the Margaret Herrick Library (Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences). Anne shares some of the concept art in the library's collection. She also discusses how the library is partnering with the Concept Art Association to make concept art accessible and appreciated for film scholars and fans.
It was also exciting to see the first "Lightbox Expo Concept Art Luminary Award" be presented to Christian Alzmann for "concept art work that has made and indelible impact on the art world in the past year." If you don't know his name, you certainly have seen the work that won him this recognition --- he designed "the Child" aka Baby Yoda. If you watch some of the Gallery segments about The Mandalorian on Disney + you can see how finding the right design for that character was challenging and crucial.
I featured Alzmann in a blog post last December.
