Horse show Sept 2010 plus Millard Sheets Mural in PV

As if THIS isn't enough of a reason to come to PV this weekend for the Charity Horse Show:

There's also this.... Just up the hill, continuing south on Hawthorne Blvd, go through the light at Silver Spur and you'll find this bank...

With this AMAZING mural by Millard Sheets. The Sept 2010 issue of the AAA Auto Club's "Westways" Magazine has a big article about the efforts to preserve Millard Sheets' LA Murals.... and a prime example cited in the article is just minutes from the horse show....

Now for some quick pics from my visit to the horse show this morning.... Here's the view you'll first get of the grounds from the free shuttle bus that delivers you there from the free parking area across the street...

Here's the lovely, shady hillside where you can view the jumping classes and enjoy the ocean breezes... BYO chairs or blankets... lots of great food and fun at the booths nearby....

Imagine the stories you'll find to sketch..... Two horses chatting about the day...



Enjoying a quick graze on the lawn...

And a reminder why horses, like small children, require lots of supervision...
