Comic Con 2017 (5 of 5) -- Outside Hall H and Hilton hotel area (updated 7.30.17)

In the area between Hall H and the Hilton Hotel.. there are a number of Comic Con related attractions...

Each year, the Starbucks at the Hilton hotel gets decorated with a pop culture movie theme. Large screens show the highlighted film...to entertain customers in line and inside the store.. This year's theme was Harry Potter.

Inside the store, I was able to photograph this Harry Potter cosplay crew..

Outside the Hilton.. 

there is a large FX attraction.. 

Along the bayside walkway.. more attractions await...

Curious about the origins of sci fi film "Valerian"...

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (French: Valérian et la Cité des mille planètes) is an upcoming English-language French science fiction action film^[7] written and directed by Luc Besson and co-produced by Besson and his wife Virginie Silla. The film is based on the French science fiction comics series Valérian and Laureline, written by Pierre Christinand illustrated by Jean-Claude Mézières. It stars Dane DeHaan as Valerian and Cara Delevingne as Laureline, with Clive Owen, Rihanna, Ethan Hawke, Herbie Hancock, Kris Wu and Rutger Hauer in supporting roles. The film is scheduled for release by STX Entertainment on 21 July 2017 in the United States and on 26 July in France

The source material is a European Graphic Novel series.

1) is a blog post by artist Nolan Nassar.

It's always good to read info from other artists who are SELLING at conventions. Not just exhibiting... but making consistent sales and sharing tips. My favorite quote from this post:

"When people buy a print from you or your online store, those people are buying an extension of themselves, not your art. That’s how most people shop for almost everything, but especially creative things like decor. They are looking for that item that accurately expresses who they are. You’re not actually selling yourself and your art at a convention; you’re selling somebody else a piece of themselves. It isn’t always about expressing who you are as an artist. That’s certainly a big part of it; however, if you want to do that and make income as an independent artist, you have to appeal to people’s need to relate to and express themselves through art."
