DreamCon 2015 -- UPDATED 10/10

DreamCon is an annual event for artists at DreamWorks Animation. This showcase is an opportunity for artists to see and share their personal work. It's held for a few hours on a weekday afternoon ... at the studio's beautiful campus-like setting in Glendale...

Each's years show features a theme. For 2015 the theme was "Mad Men"...
Here's a peek at the tables during set-up...
Stuart Ng Books is privileged to exhibit at this event. Coordinator Angela from the the DreamWorks Education department gives us a beautiful space right near the front, under a covered walkway...Stuart was there with SNB team members Mark and Jim...
Some of the items we brought....

Jim introduced many artists to the wonders of the various fold-out titles we'd brought.
These items are stunning.. but tricky to display.

We had an assortment of sketchbooks... imports.... art reference... and the brand new "how to" book on running a Kickstarter...http://stuartngbooks.com/kickstarter-for-the-independent-creator-a-practical-and-informative-guide-to-crowdfunding.html
UPDATE 10/10/15 --- Author Madeleine Holly-Rosing has a kickstarter going to print Chapter 6 of her comic. Check it out to see how she uses all the tips in her "How-to" book (above) ... and structures the rewards, including  TWO "Kickstarter Consulting" packages.....https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/488929101/boston-metaphysical-society-chapter-6

Like the artist exhibitors, Stuart got a "Mad Men" themed name plate for his space..
The DreamCon banner above the Olive Grove pathway......

This con is relaxed and easy..... fun to wander around..
Sometimes Stuart got to step away from his space to chat with some of the artists...

But mostly he's at his tables.... answering questions and getting updates from artists whose books he carries...
The busy crowd just grows and grows..... enjoying the art show...
Artists could get a caricature by some of their colleagues...
Nearby benches and chairs... even a Starbucks... make it easy to take a break or a quick meeting...

Fun food offerings included "Mad Men" era appetizers like Swedish Meatballs .. There was even a chocolate fountain....
....and live music...
The featured art included prints... originals... jewelry...handmade plush and craft items..
Of course I did some shopping myself...
Here are a few tables I visited....

This image caught my attention right away....
It arrived on my radar via the internet, perhpas a post on the Bat Conservation Intl page, but without artist attribution. Then here it was ... as a print.. with the actual artist! Sydney Hanson

and the beautiful images on her business cards! These are keepers...
Jim told me about this fun print of Batgirl and WonderWoman at the bakery that he spotted at an artist's table ...
and of course I found more mini-prints there ...
