LA Printers Fair 2015

If you love printing... paper ... letter press .. and the tangible art of a hand written note.. the annual Los Angeles Printers Fair is for you! It's held  at the outstanding Intl. Printing Museum... located just 10 minutes from Stuart Ng Books ..
The Printing Museum is a small town treasure ... staffed by passionate docents who really know their history and share their love of the art and craft of print making.
Here's a You Tube clip from the Printing Museum website featuring the 2014 Fair
The museum is open on Saturdays ... and has themed presentations during the year (Independence Day with Founding Fathers and Printing; Dickens Festival for the Holidays)....see the full list on their website. http://www.printmuseum.org/

The LA Printers Fair is held on the first Saturday in October. The tickets and flyers were printed on heavy stock paper that was lovely to touch.. and the program listed all the vendors and their contact info...
The 2015 Fair had a packed crowd of eager attendees... at the tents outside...
and among the exhibits inside the museum....
enjoying all the vendors..

and lots and lots of hands-on demos of printing processes...

 Many vintage presses on display...
some equipment even for sale...
I've been attending this Fair over the years. It's great to see the growing enthusiasm for printing.. as well as the appreciation for the artists working in these areas....I feel a kinship with this tribe..
Time to stock up on fun cards to send!
Springtide Press http://springtidepress.com/
I loved their own "Thank you Deer" card, as well as these large postcards they had from  http://www.deadfeminists.com/
Details on the postcards here: http://www.deadfeminists.com/broadsides/
Springtide Press info on the back of the card.....plus a nice acknowledgement of  the art of correspondence....
 Zombie card fun from http://www.letterpresscentral.com/
More witty delights... the cards below from Torrance based letterpress studio Just Vandy http://www.justvandy.com/

Lindsey of Warren Tales ....http://www.warrentales.com/ with new designs at her table...
Not only creates great cards.... originals and re-purposing vintage postage stamps..She also EXCELS at branding her space and her art. She has her logo and contact info on her bags...
And on the back of each card. Let the art you sell help you sell again and again by reminding your patrons about you .. and making it easy to find you!
Table below for Kiss and Punch Press   http://www.kissandpunch.com/
Another great job at branding .. logo on the bag.. info on the back of the card....
Always great to see indie artists ... and how they display their art ... and showcase their brand. We under serve artists by not teaching them enough about marketing and managing themselves as a small business. Whenever you visit an art show or craft fair.. pay attention to how the artists are presenting themselves and their work.
