Lightbox Expo 2021 (5 of 5) -- SNB booth #103 in virtual artist alley (updated 9.15.21)

This post was written and posted while LBX 2021 was still live ...

Lightbox Expo 2021 expanded to nearly a full week of online programs. The virtual artist alley provided many ways to discover artists through the images they displayed and the interactive links at their booths.

Register for tickets here: https://lightboxexpo.com/

Your ticket gets you access to the virtual artist alley -- as well as panels and other online events.

Here's one of my favorites from the new arrivals at SNB featured in the Lightbox Expo SNB booth.

Stuart debuted this fantastic French import catalog for a 2021 Moebius exhibition in Italy.

His comments from his online newsletter:

"Moebius Catalogue Details!

The Moebius Catalogue arrived this week and I am mighty impressed with it. I think a lot of us suspected due to this museum exhibition's proximity to the German exhibition that it may have been a rehash of that catalogue.

But now having examined both catalogues closely, I can say with certainty that there is a lot of artwork in this Italian catalogue that is not in the Max Ernst catalogue--or the earlier Cartier Fondation catalogue!

If you don't have the Italian catalogs Moebius: Visioni di Fine Millennio (1997) or Infinito (1998), then there are even more works you will have never seen before!

Highlights of Moebius - La Ricerca del Tempo / à la Recherche du Temps:

A number of rarely seen Venice and Naples related artworks

The entire 27-panel story "Mourir et Voir Naples" (albeit in two pages)

The entire 4-page story "Voir Naples"

Drawings and illustrations of Casanova

A suite of 8 paintings of Greek mythology (never before published in a book)

A suite of crystal illustrations (never before published in a book)

Moebius' illustrations for Dante's Paradiso (never published outside of the Nuage Edizioni illustrated edition)

The catalog is nicely printed on an uncoated stock."

Here's the description of the book from the SNB website:

Moebius is on exhibit at the National Archaeological Museum of Naples (MANN) from July 10 to October 4, 2021!

Over 330 works are in display. The Major, Arzak, the World of Edena, the Fauna of Mars and Inside Moebius, but also Greek Myths, Time and Matter, Casanova, Celtic Venice, Dante's Paradise...

This hardcover exhibition catalog includes works from the exhibition as well as additional drawings, and essays on the themes of time and archeology.

The text is in Italian and French.

MOEBIUS - Alla ricerca del tempo is the largest exhibition of Moebius art ever mounted in Italy. It celebrates the art of Moebius, but also his particular bond with Italy and Naples.

The author was so strongly inspired by the Neapolitan city that he once declared: "Whenever I work on one story about Naples there are no problems: everything runs smoothly. Naples has something that fascinates me, that always touches me in a special way."
