The International Printing Museum -- just minutes from the SNB store -- is always worth a visit. https://www.printmuseum.org/
So many wonderful hands-on activities.
Lots of scouting and school programs.
Including their mobile learning lab about early printing presses...
And they host the 2-day LA Printer's Fair every October. The 2023 Fair was the 15th year!
My visit there was quick this year. But of course I checked in on two favorite vendors.
The Typewriter Connection https://www.typewriterconnection.com/
Your So Cal resource for all things vintage typewriter: Sales; Rentals; Repairs. Regret I didn't get more photos of all the typewriters they had at their booth today. But check out this super rare early electric typewriter!
In the photo below.. you can see the motor on the right side of the machine.
The Typin' Pint https://www.thetypinpint.com/
Author Bryan Mahoney takes on-the-spot custom poetry commissions at events like this. You can also commission a poem via his website.
Thank you Typin' Pint for permission to use these next 3 photos of your set-up at the 2023 Printer's Fair
Bryan was debuting his first book -- a collection of these poems and others. https://www.thetypinpint.com/product-page/lost-poetry-of-los-angeles-2011-2023
Here's the first page of the introduction ..
Read through this selection of interior pages.. and you'll find one of my favorites!
The LA Printers Fair is held every October. The International Printing Museum is open Saturdays 10am-4pm and Tues-Fri by appointment. The museum has special programs all year -- including events for Ben Franklin's birthday https://www.printmuseum.org/franklins-birthday-celebration
