Wondercon 2015 -- Costumed Characters, and review of WonderCon from science perspective! (Update April 10)

Picture perfect weather for the Easter-weekend 3-day con was appreciated by everyone. There were some panels and previews for movies and TV, but this show not as event focused as Comic-Con. This means there is still room to move around .... explore the exhibition hall and artists tables .. and of course, enjoy the amenities and all the costumed characters...
A popular row of food trucks lined the walk way up to the convention hall...
So fun to see familiar characters in line for burgers and pizza...

Lots of space indoors for all the con activities
And a lovely, park-like setting with SHADE for photos...
Photo ops are popular with attendees and families ... and the costumed co-players are such good sports.
Quite a range of characters at this con --- lots of  Star Wars, comic book superheroes etc .. but also Steampunk...
Gender flips .. like Hannah Solo here with her pup dressed like Chewie..
Also fun to see .. the mash-up characters! Check out Boba Snow White..
Addams Family duo...

The cos-players enjoy the party atmosphere .. and appreciate the details in each other's work. Here live-action Cinderella admires Sherlock Holmes...

The cos-play attendees get to be good sports .. posing with other players .. families .. fans..
 And even little character mascots....
The scale is epic...
Large and small enjoy the games...
Some of the most energetic photo ops come from chance encounters ... a young Maleficent studies a group of Princesses
A Walking Dead family portrait..

Morpheus, Neo and the Matrix Gang join Thor to take down Loki...
He was not amused ... but played along :)
And of course it's fun to watch them shopping for gear .. This booth that sold Light Sabers drew a crowd
Here  a young jedi tries out a Light Saber
Meanwhile, across the hall Batman checks out decor options for the batcave...

Walking the floor means seeing all sorts of sights...
This outdoor photo op area won't be available next year though....
Just announced ... WonderCon 2016 will move to downtown LA... supposedly due to planned construction on Anaheim convention center next year. The comments are interesting to read ... http://sdccblog.com/2015/04/wondercon-moving-to-los-angeles-for-2016/
