Get Inspired -- Madrona Marsh Preserve and Nature Center

Located just minutes from Stuart Ng Books, Madrona Marsh Preserve and Nature Center protects one of the last vernal freshwater marshes in Los Angeles County.
Photos on this post are from the Madrona Marsh Preserve and Nature Center Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Madrona-Marsh-Preserve-and-Nature-Center/256458847819884

The Madrona Marsh habitat shelters many species of animals, plants and insects.. and is also an important wildlife corridor.
The hawk nest at the marsh has its own webcam!
Lots of sketching opportunities for landscapes, bio diversity ... and creature environments...

The marsh welcomes migrating birds .. and is a sanctuary for all sorts of urban wildlife. Torrance is a cozy little city ... but like most urban areas, all sorts of critters find pockets to hide in busy neighborhoods. We might not have coyotes and cougars in Torrance .. but there's lots of camouflaged company around.

The Marsh is open Tuesday - Sunday from 10AM to 5PM.  Admission is free... with free parking available at the Nature Center. It's an oasis of nature, surrounded by all the urban amenities... including near-by Del Amo Shopping Mall.
Most of the staff for the Marsh and the Nature Center are volunteers, so hours at the Nature Center building and Gift Shop vary on the weekends .. best to check the website or call ahead to make sure it's open. Classes, Hikes, Bird watching and other programs are offered.
